Now that marathon season is—finally--over and done with in Central Texas, we can turn our attention to shorter spring races. With all that hard-fought fitness in the bank after months of long runs, the shorter races are a good way to work on speed and leg turnover. Fortunately, we have a well-established circuit of several high-caliber races.
Spring has always meant 5-K racing season in Austin and even though that season is drawing to a close, there are still several races left such as the Ants in Your Pants in Pflugerville and the Daisy 5-K at Camp Mabry next weekend. But this Sunday is more jam packed than usual with options in just about every city from San Antonio to Dallas and Fredericksburg to Bryan/College Station. In total we have 29 event listings on our Race Calendar for May 2nd and 3rd.

Zooma Racing Series will return to Bastrop, Texas on Saturday, March 28th for the seventh annual Half Marathon, 10K and 5K held at Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. With it's annual early spring date it will be yet another great year of bluebonnets and other memorable Texas scenery. While the mostly out-and-back course is hilly, getting lost in the surroundings makes up for it as you soak in the pristine landscape.
