Zooma Women’s Series Returns for Seventh Annual Half Marathon

Zooma Racing Series will return to Bastrop, Texas on Saturday, March 28th for the seventh annual Half Marathon, 10K and 5K held at Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. With it’s annual early spring date it will be yet another great year of bluebonnets and other memorable Texas scenery. While the mostly out-and-back course is hilly, getting lost in the surroundings makes up for it as you soak in the pristine landscape.

Per the race website – zoomarun.com/texas:

Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush dance in the waving grasses on either side of the quiet roadways that make up this scenic race.  For the last few miles of the half marathon, you’ll traverse exclusively on the gorgeous grounds of the host property, the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort. Less than 20 minutes from the Austin airport, the tranquil, gracious setting—complete with a few authentic Texas longhorn cattle—is the ideal retreat for a girlfriends-getaway.  There’s even a secluded adults-only pool overlooking the Colorado River that borders the property, perfect for chilling post-race.

Given that the race is in Hill Country, there’s no getting away from inclines and declines, but the course’s natural beauty and the race’s all-women’s vibe will carry you along.  The After-Party Expo, held under a rustic wooden roof on a pavilion overlooking the river, is the ideal location for sampling complimentary wine, shopping, checking your results, and sharing laughs and memories with friends old and new.

Men are allowed to run in the race but it’s certainly catered more towards women. Finishers receive wine, a pair of Feetures running socks, massages, opportunities for shopping and a “Mocktail” party.

Previous half marathon winners include Desiree Ficker (2014), Jennifer Fisher (2013), Jennifer Loftis (2012) and Amanda Lovato (2011). Zooma has recruited Fisher as an Ambassador for 2015 along with nine other Austinites. You can view their blogs on Zooma’s site at zoomarun.com/texas/austin-ambassadors.

Packet pickup is scheduled for Thursday, March 26th from 3-7 PM at Athleta in the Domain and then Friday, March 27th from 2-8 PM at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort.

Race start time on Saturday the 28th is 7:30 AM for the Half Marathon, 7:35 AM for the 10K and 7:40 AM for the 5K. A course map for all three events is available via this MAP.

Online registration via zoomarun.com/texas/registration closes at 7 PM on Wednesday, March 24.  Late registrations will be accepted at packet pick up locations during the designated times until the race is filled.  Race day registration is not available for the half marathon, 10K, or 5K race.
