May 20, 2017 The Fit Foodie 5k is making stops all around the United States. They have 5k’s in Fairfax, Denver, Clearwater, San Diego and our very own Austin (technically Round Rock). The race was this morning and the weather was pretty sketchy to say the least. When I was awoken at 4am due to thunder and lightening, I was thinking, this is a race directors nightmare. Fortunately there was a small window this morning when we got there and were able to miss the bad weather with the exception of some rain later.
The race was put on at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The race was completely on the running path. I was a little concerned by this because of the large number of participants. Fortunately, the vast number of 850 racers did a nice job of self seeding and the congestion was very minimal. The run course was a lollypop and was relatively flat. There was quite a bit of humidity, but I really enjoyed it. The venue was great. The post race festivities were really nice. John Hancock supports the race and brought in elite runners Ryan Hall and Desiree Linden to come hang out and take pictures.
