Friendswood Development Company, which is best known for developing some of Houston’s signature master-planned communities including Fairfield and Kingwood, will host the Woodtrace Wilderness Kids Triathlon on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in its Tomball-area community of Woodtrace, located in Pinehurst, TX. The race, a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, will have two designated start times: 7:30 am for ages 5 to 10 and 8:30 am for ages 11 to 15. The swim will be 100 yards for ages 5-10 and 200 yards for ages 11-15; bike ride will be 2 miles for 5-10 and 4 miles for ages 11-15; and run will be 1 mile for 5-10 and 2 miles for 11-15. “Woodtrace has a beautiful, natural aesthetic, and the community was intentionally designed for families of all ages who maintain an active lifestyle and embrace outdoor recreation,” said Michael Johnson, Senior Acquisitions Manager for Friendswood Development Company.
“We want to bring families who may not be familiar with Woodtrace to our community for a great summertime event that takes full advantage of all corners of our 480+ acres, which is why the athlete participants will swim in our Recreational Center pool, bike around the neighborhood, and run on the trails around Lake Woodtrace.”
The morning team (Sarah, Geoff, and Lauren) at Houston’s MIX 96.5 will serve as the race’s on-site emcees. All participants will receive a race t-shirt and goodie bag, as well as a finisher medal; top female and male finishers in each age category will be presented with engraved awards. The event will conclude with a post-race party featuring prize drawings.
Registration is now open and will be limited to the first 300 participants. Entry fee is $35 between now and May 31; it increases to $45 on June 1. To register, please visit: WoodtraceWildernessKidsTri.com.
