South First Street Bridge,
Run for the Water holds the distinguished position of being produced by and solely benefiting the Gazelle Foundation. Thanks to participation in the last six years we have been able to provide over 20,000 Burundians with access to clean drinking water for the remainder of their lives through the implementation of water systems. For every registrant in the race, the Gazelle Foundation is able to guarantee clean water to one additional person in Burundi. For life. To learn more about what we do, visit www.gazellefoundation.com/projects.
Garnering numerous accolades from various media outlets over the years, Run for the Water was most recently named a Critic’s Pick as best race from the Austin Chronicle’s 2011 “Best of” awards. Others of note are: “Best New Race” – 2007, “Best Race Course” – 2008, Austin Runner Magazine.
We are excited to announce the selection by Road Runners Club of America as the 2013 Southern Region 10-Mile Championship. The goal of the RRCA Championship Event Series is to shine a spotlight on well-run events and to award top performing runners in the open, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), and senior grand masters (60+) categories for both men and women. For more information, check with the RRCA.
We will be using the same highly-praised course as last year consisting of a mix of flat streets and rolling hills through downtown Austin, scenic West Austin, with the start/finish on the South First Street bridge. Walk-up registration will be available at packet pickup on October 25th, 26th, and 27th.
