“48 Hours To Fame” Featuring Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee Premieres Sept. 6 on Universal Sports

From Universal Sports:

48 Hours to Fame showcases World Champion and Olympic decathletes Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee in their quests to be called “The World’s Greatest Athlete”. The 90-minute documentary details the rigors and determination it takes to complete against the world’s best in the decathlon–10 track and field events held over two days of competition. Eaton, Hardee and former World Record holder Dan O’Brien describe their strategies to compete in the world’s toughest two-day competition.

Growing up in the track and field mecca of Oregon, Eaton had a difficult time attracting the attention of college coaches. When the University of Oregon gave Ashton a spot on their team and an opportunity to prove himself, he did not disappoint. Often competing against Trey Hardee (University of Texas), the two would develop a friendship along with a fierce rivalry. The two would push themselves to Olympic glory in London off the heels of one of the most exciting Olympic Trials in U.S. history that would see Eaton break the world record in the decathlon.

Legendary track and field coaches Harry Mara (University of Oregon) and Mario Sategna (University of Texas) also weigh in on the extraordinary abilities of these athletes, and the unlikely path they’ve taken to get to the top of their sport.

48 Hours to Fame premieres on Universal Sports Network Friday, September 6, at 12:30 PM ET prior to the final Diamond League meet of 2013 at 2 PM ET LIVE.

Fans can watch encore presentations of 48 Hours to Fame later this month on September 22 at 8 AM ET and 26 at 4:30 PM ET, and on October 1 at 8:30 AM ET and 2 at 7:30 PM ET.
