Austin’s ageless wonder–Carmen Troncoso–recorded two top five finishes in the World Masters Championships in Lyon, France. The 56-year-old placed third in the 8000-meter cross-country race on Tuesday in 31:35, behind the winning time of 31:06 by Carla Marrewijk-Ophorst of the Netherlands and Claire Donald of Great Britain in 31:14.
In an earlier race, Troncoso finished fifth in the 5000-meter champs in 20:31 in a race won by Silke Schmidt of Germany in 18:15. Inka Mims of the US finished in fourth in 20:24.
Carol Finsrud of Pflugerville won the women’s title in the 55-59 weighty throw with a toss of 13.59 meters. In the women’s hammer throw, Finsrud placed ninth in the finals (55-59) with a throw of 33.83 meters.
